Day 11 of 2017 - A Valued Stone

We live in a culture that is highly demanding of our time, attention and energy.  Your job, your immediate and extended family, friends, church, extracurricular activities for your children or yourself, serving your community; all are areas that we may choose to engage to enhance our lives or the lives around us.

When we fast, we choose to refocus our time, attention and energy on God.  See, God calls us valuable stones.  We have value and worth even though people or circumstances may try to tell us differently.  Insensitive words, rejection, or even chaotic relationships can drain us and leave us feeling spent and unworthy.  Nevertheless, we can’t allow outward circumstances to affect what God says about us.

Not only did God call you valuable; not only did he say you have worth…he personally chose you! God knew you before you were in your mother’s womb.  He had a plan for your life before the foundation of the earth.  See, fasting is not about changing God. Fasting is about changing us.  Fasting is not about getting God’s attention.  It’s about getting our attention on God.

You are already the apple of His eye…a valued stone.  My prayer for you today is that God will help you see yourself the way He sees you!
