When I think of the love of God overflowing a person and being poured into a relationship, I think of my Grandmother and her friend, Marie. They were both prayer warriors and spent much time together in prayer and in fellowship. They were like honey – the love of God just seemed to drip from them and stick to others. What a great example of how the love of God should be shared from one heart to another, just like 1 John 4:7 tells us!
An important aspect of this kind of love is time. Strong love can only develop when time is spent in genuine relationship. Do you want strong love to flow between you and your Father? This can only be the result of time spent in His Presence. Someone once said, “Whatever I give my attention to, will grow in my life”. This is true in every relationship.
Be careful though – you aren’t spending time to “earn” God’s love. God’s love for you is unconditional! We spend time with God so that we can become more like Him, and love the way He loves us!
